| Significance
Great Mosque of Algiers is one of the most important examples that survive from Almoravid period. The mosque was constructed by the order of Sultan Ali Ibn Yusuf in the end of 11th century, situated close to the sea shore. The minaret was constructed in 1324 by Ziyyanid sultan in Tlemcen. The exterior gallery of the mosque was constructed in 1840.
