| Significance
At the center of the old walled city of Famagusta is the Lala Mustafa Pasa Mosque, the former St Nicolas Cathedral of 14th century, which resembles the European Gothic Cathedals.The mosque was named after the Turkish leader who laid siege to the city and converted the church into a mosque in 1571.

| State of Preservation
Both towers of the building first suffered during the siege in 1571, before they were converted to a mosque. Later, subsequent earthquakes damaged the mosque, however it is still intact.
